Connecting your store
- Install the Whappy app in your Shopify admin.
- Open it from Apps → Whappy. Click Get started to create your Whappy account from your Shopify login, or Connect if you already have one with the same email.
- Click Open Whappy to go to your dashboard. Your store’s page is Integrations → Shopify.
Who becomes a lead
Only customers who agreed to WhatsApp marketing in your store become leads and receive messages. You can see and change a customer’s WhatsApp marketing status on their customer page in Shopify.- When a customer agrees to WhatsApp marketing, they become a lead. Their name, email and phone come from your store.
- When they withdraw it, they stop receiving marketing messages from Whappy.
- A customer who sends STOP on WhatsApp is never messaged again by a store event, even if their status in Shopify says otherwise.
- SMS and email marketing consent do not count.
Shopify’s checkout asks only for SMS consent, not WhatsApp consent. An abandoned cart is followed up only for customers who already agreed to WhatsApp marketing in your store.
Your store’s campaigns
When you connect your store, Whappy creates five campaigns for you, switched off so you can review them first:
Each event campaign starts with a WhatsApp template (submit it for approval from the campaign), then the AI helps the customer and closes the conversation once they have nothing more to ask. You can edit every campaign like any other: all funnel steps are available, and you can connect Calendly or Cal.com to book appointments. Choose which store event starts a campaign under Starts when in the campaign’s Options, or on Integrations → Shopify.
If a later event reaches a customer who is already in that campaign (for example “shipped” after “paid”), the campaign starts over for them, unless they exchanged messages within the campaign’s quiet hours.
Order details in your messages
Templates and AI messages can use the latest order’s details: Insert variable in the template editor lists them.Answers about orders
When a customer asks “where is my order?”, the AI answers from your store’s record of their recent orders: number, date, items, total, status, carrier and tracking, and the order page. It never invents an order or a tracking number; if it cannot see the order, it says so and points the customer to you.Answers about products and suggestions
The AI knows your catalog.- Product questions. When a customer asks about a product (“do you have it in blue?”, “how much is the large one?”), the AI looks it up in your store and answers with the price and a link to the product. It quotes only what your store lists, and says so when it cannot find something.
- Suggestions. After answering, the AI may suggest one product related to what the customer bought or has in their cart, with a link to buy it in one tap. The related products come from Shopify’s own recommendations, so there is nothing to set up. It never suggests anything when the customer has a problem, and never again after they decline. With an abandoned cart, it helps the customer finish the cart first.
Turning suggestions off
Suggestions are on for every campaign. To turn them off for one campaign, open the campaign’s Options and switch off Suggest products from your store. Product questions are answered either way. When Shopify is very busy, a reply may arrive a little later, or without product details. The AI always replies.
