# Conversation history

> Read a lead's messages, take over from the AI, and reply yourself.

**Chats** shows every WhatsApp conversation your campaigns are having. Open it from the sidebar, or jump straight to one lead's conversation from the Leads table.

## Finding a conversation

* **Search** by lead.
* Filter to **one campaign** or view all of them.
* Filter to **unread** only.

<Note>
  Search covers the page you are currently on rather than every conversation you have ever had, which is why the conversation you want may be on another page when a campaign has run for a long time.
</Note>

## Reading a conversation

Select a conversation to see the full exchange. The header shows:

* The lead's **status** — Ready, Active, Processing, Qualified, Stopped or Error.
* **Key information**: every answer collected so far, with the ones you marked required flagged, and *Not provided* against the ones still missing.
* When the **last message** was.

This panel is the fastest way to see why a conversation stalled — the missing required answer is usually the reason.

## Taking over from the AI

Every conversation is handled either by the **AI** or by a **human**, and the header shows which.

* **Stop AI conversation** hands it to you. The AI assistant stops replying and you take over.
* **Continue AI conversation** gives it back.

While the conversation is yours, type in the message box and reply directly. The lead sees one continuous WhatsApp conversation and cannot tell where the handover happened.

<Note>
  Taking over is the right move when a lead asks something your funnel was not built for. If it keeps happening, that is worth fixing in the campaign — [Coach](/autopilot/coach) spots exactly this pattern and proposes wording that handles it.
